- Leadership by Stedman Graham- (also known as "Oprah's Man")
A convergence of training professionals representing states and provinces all over North America met in "Training Magazine's Training Conference 2012" a couple of weeks ago to investigate new trends and techniques in corporate/workplace training.
If you didn't possess a ipad, ipod, smart phone, twitter account or e-learning strategy, you felt out of the loop! However, I perservered and gained a ton of new ideas and value-added services to pass onto our coporate training customers and members of the community alike.
Of particular interest was a keynote speaker, Dr. Miguel Nicolelis, one of the world's leading brain science scientist and author of, Beyond Boundaries - the New Neuroscience of Connecting Brains with Machines - and How It Will Change Our Lives.
Imagine living in a world where quadriplegics walk again; where people use their computers, drive their cars and communicate with one another simply by thinking. Dr. Nicoleis described a recent experiment with Duke University and a robotic design & manufacturing partner in Japan using a monkey to control video game movements with their mind. Sounds crazy, I know, but the ultimate goal will be for the paralyzed to move again.
Imagine an exoskeleton similar to the back view of Bumblebee of the Transformers, or leg & arm braces (only it encompasses the entire back of the body). Not only did the experiment itself blow me away - but just think of the implications..."Think It and It Will Be".
